In most automation systems, cylinder sensors from the field of Position sensors are essential for the control of production.
The cylinder sensors are inserted into the T-slot of cylinders and mechanically fixed in order to query the end positions of the piston in the pneumatic cylinder. The detection takes place through the cylinder housing wall made of non-magnetizable material.
The sensors react to a ring magnet attached to the piston rod. Every time it is in the detection range of the cylinder sensor, a signal is sent to the controller for further processing.

Cylinder sensors are characterized by their high switching frequencies, their mechanical insensitivity to dust and dirt as well as their easy handling. For this reason, they also qualify for other areas of automation.
