What are safety bumpers?

Safety bumpers are tactile sensors that act as a buffer. For this reason, they are also known as safety buffers. They prevent injuries as a result of collisions, as well as damage to machinery. The bumpers are pressed together as a result of the external application of force. This causes a short circuit inside the bumper, which triggers the stopping of the system. They are worth using anywhere where safety installations require a larger deformation path.

Safety bumpers from ASO Safety Solutions

ASO Safety Solutions has developed reliable safety buffers with an artificial leather covering, whereby damage to machines and personal injury can be reliably avoided. The bumper strips have different installation heights. The faster the machine moves, the thicker the safety bumper must be. This ensures that the system can stop in due time prior to a collision.

Safety bumpers at Automation24 - simple online configuration

In the Automation24 online shop, you can configure your custom safety bumper. With this type of safety sensor, it is important that the safety buffer is precisely tailored to your requirements. You can select the length and colour in the configurator. In terms of length, you can define your own individual specifications, within the range from 20 cm to 250 cm. If you require even longer bumpers than this, you can set up a system with max. 5 bumpers connected in series. The bumpers are available in two colour variants: black/yellow and black. The installation height of the bumpers is between 10 cm and 40 cm, and when it comes to deciding on the bumper height, the required run-on distance is crucial.

For the signal analysis, there are two available options - the same as for the safety edges and safety mats from ASO Safety Solutions. You can use 4-wire connection (cross-circuit detection) and a wide range of safety relays and safety controllers from the Safety Technology product category. The other option is the bridging of the terminal resistor. For this, you require a safety relay from ASO Safety Solutions and the compatible terminal resistor. With this method, the amount of wiring required is significantly reduced. The required accessories for safety sensors are also available at Automation24.
